Cadaqués gets ready for its Festa Major d’Istiu (summer festival) 2026
From 4 to 11 September 2026, Cadaqués will once again fill with music, tradition and activities for all ages as it celebrates its Festa Major d’Istiu. According to the official programme, the festival will begin on Friday 4 September at 9.00 h, with the raising of the flag and the rocket launch from the Torre d’Es Baluard at the Town Hall.
During the first few days, young and old alike will be able to enjoy giant games and water games, the festa de l’escuma, traditional cucanyes, havaneres with La Petita Havana, and night-time dances with 7 Copes, DJ Adrià Giner, Fugados de Alcatraz and DJ Office.
Saturday 5 September brings one of the most traditional, seafaring days, with the Travessia Popular al Port, the children’s crossing, the seafaring cucanyes and the pal enseuat. In the afternoon, the giants will parade through the town accompanied by the Xaranga Damm-er, before the popular cursa de dolls and the tug-of-war on the Passeig.
The programme will continue with the Festa Major mass, circus activities, a simultaneous chess exhibition, the festa Holi, sardanes, a scavenger hunt to discover the town’s hidden corners, a family-friendly musical vermouth gathering, and numerous activities for children and young people.
The celebration will culminate on 11 September, coinciding with the Diada Nacional de Catalunya, with the 32nd Marxa a Cap de Creus, a botifarrada for participants, sardanes, and the traditional closing traca of the Festa Major on the Passeig.
